Fruit driven, ancestral-method fizz.

Made in the Col Fondo style (effectively the same as Pet-Nat), this cloudy, tangy, nutty fizz is made by the brilliant Sandridge Barton winery in Devon. We can see a few of these being enjoyed this summer.

The Sharpham Estate, home of the Sandbridge Barton winery, is located along the banks of the River Dart in Devon. They have been making wine in the Dart Valley for over 40 years and harvest up to 60 tonnes of grapes each year. The grapes which make the 'Figgie Daniel' are sourced from a vineyard planted in 2008 with 24 acres now under vine. Other varietals planted include Pinor Noir, Chardonnay, Madeline Angevine and Bacchus.  All of the winemaking, including the bottling, takes place on-site and then matured in various vessels including oak barrels and stainless steel tanks.

In May 2021 they planted a new vineyard on a raised limestone bed  (one of only a few in the UK) with Burgundian and Champagne clones of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, which thrive in limestone soils. This will most likely be ready for harvest in 2024 and we can't wait to try them.
