Always popular, Cantemerle is situated in the southern Médoc and makes elegant, Margaux-style wines. The 2011 is rich yet elegant, with fine concentration, black and blue berry flavours, spice and dried herbs.
A 5th Classified Growth of 1855, the Château Cantemerle 2011 is produced in the Haut-Médoc appellation. The vines blossom over an area of 90 hectares, planted in soils of gravel and Quaternary silica. The ageing is carried out for 16 months, with 12 months in barrel (50% new, 40% barrels used for one previous wine and 10% used for two) and 4 months in vats. Château Cantemerle 2011 blends 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.

Château Cantemerle 2011 is a wine of great richness. With its very nice and intense colour, this wine displays great concentration. The tannins present a beautiful maturity and the wine reveals a nice acidity, signalling a great ageing potential.

Jancis Robinson 14.5/20

"An elegant, successful 2011, Cantemerle has produced a finesse-styled wine with a dense ruby/purple color as well as copious notes of flowers, mulberries, raspberries and blueberries. With dramatic quality and purity, this medium-bodied effort possesses sweet tannins and a texture that builds incrementally. A lighter-styled, but beautifully crafted, well done 2011, it can be enjoyed over the next 10-15 years."
