Lions de Suduiraut has been specially created to provide an introduction to the Sauternes style which won’t break the bank. It is a younger, fresher and lighter version of the Chateau’s top wine but packs a real punch and displays ripe apricot, marmalade, zesty peel along with hints of honey and vanilla. It is an absolute bargain and a lovely glass with fruit desserts and cheese.

Chateau Suduiraut is one of the greatest producers of the sweet, amber nectar know as Sauternes. The vineyards border those of d’Yquem’s and are planted with predominately Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. The chateau has 91 hectares under vine which sit on gravelly, sandy clay soil. The stones capture the sun’s heat which leads to perfect ripeness of the grapes and an opulent style of wine. It is the development of noble rot (Botrytis Cinerea) in Sauternes which defines the truly unique character of the wines. The vineyards proximity to the Ciron and Garonne rivers lead to cool nights and morning autumn mists which provide the ideal conditions for the magical rot to concentrate the flavours in the grapes.
