Made by friend Alexander Rocca, an italophile American who fell in love with Le Marche 20 years ago, this is a Verdicchio that looks towards the future, with an eye on the past. An innovative wine, solid in tradition. The maximum expression of Verdicchio from the estate’s best grapes, grown in one of the highest areas of Staffolo, the heart of the Castelli di Jesi. Rich but minerally, citrus attack on the palate which opens up to stone fruits and a hint of roasted pineapple, showing depth and weight from lees treatment - all wrapped up in shimmering acidity, finishing long with classic bitter almonds and that unmistakable herbal, fennel note we love Verdicchio for. Wait until it ages, it will be even more sublime!

VINTAGE

Vintage 2022 was characterized by extreme heat and extreme draught. From May 1st to September 1st there wasn’t a drop of rain. Nevertheless, our vigorous old vines performed great thanks to their deep and well-established root system and we continued with our dry farming. To protect the fruit from potential heat burn we left a bit extra leaf cover on the vines through the summer, only to uncover the clusters just before harvest which came very early as maturation was well ahead of schedule. The Verdicchio first pass was on August 20th, and the second pass was on September 10th. Despite the early harvest, sugar levels exceeded those of 2021.
