Tabula Rasa - Red - #V18R - Wild & Wilder - Australia - 500ml
Wild and Wilder
“Scrumptious fruity Aussie red in a groovy crown cap bottle like a beer. Utterly gluggable. Serve chilled.” – Olly Smith
“Bright, youthful, juicy – the Grenache is really singing. Such delicious drinkability! A wonderfully crafted drink.” – Richard Hemming MW for Jancis Robinson
The critics love it, we love it, and this unorthodox bottle is the perfect red for picnics, barbeques and week nights. Many consider the world of wine a little stuffy and pretentious, lagging behind its cooler siblings craft beer and small batch gin. No such accusation can be levelled at Tabula Rasa #V18R because it’s thoroughly modern, vegan friendly and just good clean fun. It even has its own hashtag. A chunky, unoaked and, to use the Australian parlance, extremely smashable blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro (Mourvèdre) and Carignan. Flip that crown cap off and you’ll release a playful, vibrant, fruity and spicy red suitable for any occasion.
Tabula Rasa is a Latin phrase meaning “clean slate”, so draw a line under the snootiness and snobbery of old school wine and start a fresh with this. It’s made by Wild & Wilder, who are the two Masters of Wine Giles Cooke and Fergal Tynan – we’re not sure which one is Wild and which one is Wilder, we’ll have to take them out for a few drinks and find out. This dynamic duo source fruit from historic vineyards all over South Australia and turn it into craft wine. Each vintage will be different, Wild & Wilder will go back to the drawing board and work with the best fruit available that year, starting with a clean slate every year.
