Kernling - Leonora’s - Oatley Vineyard - Cannington - Somerset

Subtle, elegant, balanced with aromatic English rose-garden scents, lime and citrus notes, a dry Riesling style.  100% Kernling grape, all grown at Oatley. Kernling is a first cross from Riesling, a late-season pink-fruited clone of the even later-ripening, better-known classic white Kerner. 11.5% alcohol.

Silver Medal IEWA 21, "Good fruit driven nose, a nice combination of citrus and orangey fruit, with an undercurrent of balancing herbs. Precise and aromatic nose, with fruit, freshness, and a linear palate. Orange and kernel finish with good length."

Tom Hewson in the Tim Atkin 2021 Special Report on English wines gave it 86 points, "Fresh and faintly creamy with a touch of fruit salad and a faintly spicy muscat character. Quite an old-school English palate, rapeseed and lime, but spritzy and balanced".
