Tinto - Fonte da Serrana - Monte da Ravasquiera - Alentejo - Portugal
Situated about an hour from Lisbon, the excellent geological conditions and the climate are well suited to the production of some of the best wine that the Alentejo has to offer. The estate of Monte da Ravasqueira is just 65 hectares in size – not tiny, but a relatively small holding. Whilst the property is made up of a series of wonderful historical buildings, the estate only produced its first grape vintage 14 years ago.
Grapes are hand harvested and picked early to retain freshness. Red fruit and light spices fill your senses. But it’s the mellowness that is most notable – highly approachable and smooth with an elegance that could almost fool you into thinking it had some more years behind it.
This wine is a blend or Trincadeira and Aragonez… lesser heard of but worth a nod as blended together makes for a fruity, soft and very approachable wine. A great alternative for Malbec lovers.
