Peppery and fresh with lively notes of cherry and dried currant, this is a lovely example of Xinomavro, one of Greece’s indigenous varietals.

The Chrisohoou vineyard faces south-east along the slopes of Mt. Vermion, in the region of Strantza Naoussas. It lies at an altitude of 250 meters and the soil is predominantly sandy clay. The microclimate here is characterized by cold northern winds and heavy rainfall during the winter months, with long, warm, dry days throughout the summer months. A very typical mediterranean climate that is ideal for grape growing.

There are similarities here to a young Nebbiolo from Italy - fresh red fruits, dried herbs and good tannic structure. A bit of pepper and a sort of rustic vibe linger on the palate. It’s a very tasty young wine that fans of old-world reds will appreciate, while having enough youthful fruit and energy to happily accompany nearly any meal.
