From the gorgeous Viranel family - sons Nicolas and Arnaud have taken over the family business from Papa Gerard, so 5th generation of winemakers here in the beautiful Cessanon area of Languedoc. The imposing but charmingly dishevelled family chateau sits next to the footprint of a Roman villa where excavations are underway by local archeologists.
Viranel Trilogie Rouge is an interesting blend of equal amounts of Syrah, Alicante Bouschet and Cabernet Franc grapes. Fresh and fruity, with red berry fruit flavours moving way to reveal notes of liquorice and prunes.
One of our favourite wines in the shop and a best seller - punches well above its weight!
