The foothills of Mount Menoikio are strewn with pottery fragments in its calcareous sandy loam soils. Nerantzi Mitropoulos' vineyards and winery are here, along with border of Macedonia and Thrace. His aim is to reintroduce forgotten grape varieties and winemaking techniques of Greece. His daughter Eva, trained in Burgundy, now assists him in his quest. This stainless steel aged Malagousia shows off intense stone fruit aromatics, and is medium-bodied. Pronounced "mah lah gou ZYA", this Greek varietal is making a return from the brink of extinction. This intensely aromatic grape variety makes elegant, full-bodied white wines possessing aromas of exotic spices and fruits. If you like Viognier or Muscat, Malagousia is the grape for you.

It would pair beautifully with oregano and lemon roasted chicken.
