Sauvignon Blanc - Coeur du Roche - Domaine Mérieau - Loire - France
White Wine
Domaine Mérieau
Vintage 2018
Pale yellow colour with golden tinge. Citrus fruit nose, highlighted by some hints of hazelnut. The mouth feel is rich, powerful, with a very long finish that will entice you sample a second glass to appreciate its complexity.
The Mérieau family has been making wine since 1886 and is now in the hands of Jean-François Mérieau. 38 hectares on flinty clay and limestone among the hillsides and the left bank of the Cher river give a diverse range of wines from a whole host of grape varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Malbec, Gamay, Cabernet Franc, Menu Pineau and Pinot Noir.
Coeur de Roche is a Sauvignon made from 50 year old vines. It has fabulous minerality and a really tropical aroma with notes of citrus, white flowers and lemon balm. It’s a completely different style of Sauvignon, richer and more complex, and we absolutely love it.
Wonderful food pairing with langoustine bisque, Goats Cheese & Warm oysters with leeks and cream!
